Google will generate the code you'll need to put your new gadget into your blog or website. It will only work on the website you registered, so you can't copy and paste this into multiple sites. That also means your membership will be unique to each site.

Copy and paste the code on your website in the HTML section. In some cases that means you'll need to press a "source" or HTML tab in order to properly paste code. This will also only work someplace that allows JavaScript.

In WordPress you can use the "Text" widget to paste your code.

In Blogger, you can either use the HTML/JavaScript gadget, or you can skip nearly all the steps in this tutorial and use the Followers gadget, which generates a members gadget for your Blogger blog. However, it doesn't give you as many choices for customization, so it still may be worth your while to generate your own.

That's it. Readers can now become members to your site. It may also be worthwhile to ask some friends to seed your membership gadget as soon as you create it. It's a bit of psychological encouragement like putting some change in the tip jar before you start your shift.
