Definition:
Google Building Maker is a Web interface for creating simple 3D buildings which are then uploaded to the Google 3D Warehouse and visible in Google Earth.
The tool is Web based and will work on both Mac and Windows computers. You must have the Google Earth plug-in for your Web browser installed to use Google Building Maker. You'll be prompted to download the plug-in if it's missing.
Essentially the tool offers a simplified way to make buildings using basic shapes and six views of the building, all of which are supplied by Google Building Maker. Google will moderate submissions. Those passing muster will be added to Google Earth.
