Google Chrome is officially available as a beta release for Windows. Mac and Linux users will have to wait.
I really hope you're having better luck using this new browser than I am. As Google put it, "Google Chrome is far from done."
In my case, I tried it on an older computer running Vista, and I've yet to successfully connect with a single Web page. Every one of them has broken in some way. I've seen a frozen frowny face browser graphic that asks me if I want to kill the window and a frowny face browser graphic that says, "Aw, Snap!" and informs me that it can't find the page.
I tried it on another computer running XP, and it works just fine. It seems to run much faster on sites that would bog down a lesser browser. I've got a newer computer running Vista that I'll try later on tonight and see how well it does. Everyone else I've spoken to has had a fabulous time with the new browser.
Update: I've got it running on my newer Vista machine, and I am very pleased with how it handles on this one. It's crunching through websites very rapidly, and I can even get it to play a little Flash. The sound isn't working on anything played in the browser window, but it's still a promising start.
Anyone else try Chrome today? Did it work? What do you think so far?

I’m very Disappointed that Google’s Chrome browser does not support MathML (Math Markup Language). Mozilla’s Firefox does!!
Actually I am pleasantly surprised. Much faster than IE and it loads faster than Firefox. Admittedly I am using an XP machine with only 512mb memory, but it whips through.
It reminds me of Firefox in that it gets rid of some IE only tags such as . It seems work pretty well for me at least. If they can get the bugs for everyone else worked out then they have a product here.
I also like how fast google chrome is
I also had errors when i installed it
but after reading the chrome group i install java 6 10 (yes its a beta version) rebooted and i’m loving it.
I wish the first thing you mentioned in any of these offers was whether it is free or for fee and for fee how much so people know if thy can afford to download.
Good point, Ali. With Google it’s usually easier to mention it if something costs a fee. Very few things do. Chrome is free.
