Web 2.0

By , About.com Guide

Definition: Web 2.0 was a phrase coined by O'Reilly Media. It refers to the next generation of Web sites and Web applications.

The first generation of sites on the World Wide Web tended to be static points of information, such as personal and corporate Web sites with readable information only. Gradually this has shifted towards Web sites that let you read, write, and actively participate. Advertisements on the Web have also shifted from static banners to contextual ads, such as Google Adsense.
