Want to get more done with less effort? Set your Web browser's default home page to
iGoogle and add some
Google Gadgets. Yes, you could load up on jokes of the day or mini games, but here are a few favorites to help you stay
productive during the day.
This is exactly what it sounds like - a sticky note for iGoogle. You can use this Gadget to jot down quick notes, like the address of a friend you're visiting later or the time your flight leaves next month.
This is a simple to-do list to track and prioritize your
tasks. It doesn't sync with Windows Office, but it's great for adding quick tasks during the day, and this one lets you schedule due dates, add notes, and see completed tasks.
This is a simple expense tracker to keep track of your personal budget and weekly spending. The author has more features available from a Web site, but this Gadget works just fine as a simple standalone.
If you use Google Notebook, using this Gadget only makes sense. For me, this is like the Sticky Note on espresso. I do actually use both Gadgets. I use Sticky Note for quick, temporary items and Google Notebook to catch items that need longer notes.
Part of being productive for me includes making sure I'm being productive on my diet, too. This is a simple Gadget that lets you keep track of the calories you consume during the day. It's not exact, and it's not as fancy as specialized software, but it is easy and on my iGoogle page, so I see it every time I browse the
Internet.
Map My Word Dictionary is more than a simple dictionary. This tool will map words, provide examples, pronounce the word, and define synonyms. The words are presented in a very visual and interactive manner and definitions are retrieved surprisingly fast.
If you use a lot of Google services, this is a very handy Gadget to have. Instead of remembering the Web address for every service or saving a lot of bookmarks, you can click directly on the link and go to the service you want to use.
