Definition: PingShot is a feature of FeedBurner that automatically updates participating feed aggregators, search engines and directories to let them know there is new content on a particular feed.
Although aggregators, search engines, and directories are generally pretty fast at picking up updated content, FeedBurner's PingShot may speed up the process by several hours. This could be important for event blogging or breaking news stories.
Feedburner users can activate the PingShot option under the Publicize tab in their feed settings.
