Patent Search

By , About.com Guide

Definition: Google Patent Search is a search engine that lets you search through patents from the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office.)

US patents are public domain, so Google lets you view a summary of the patent claims or the entire image itself. Users will eventually be able to download and print patents, as well.

The service is similar to Google Book Search.

Google Patent Search is located on the Web at www.google.com/patents.
