What's the Best Use of Google Maps?
Question: What's the Best Use of Google Maps?
Yes, you can use Google Maps to find things. But you can also use it to make your own map, and if you know a bit of programming, you can use Google Maps info to power something completely new. This is how we get things like maps to poling places during election years or even maps as far out as Google Moon. Some mashups were made by Google and some were made by third parties.

So tell me what the best Google Maps mashup, blog, app, or other service is.

Answer: Does it fight global warming, help you get health access, tell you where the best beach spots are, or help you find your friends? It could even just be a blog with funny pictures from Street View. As long as it uses Google Maps in some capacity, it's eligible for nomination.

The answer is up to you.

For the first time, About.com's Computing Channel will be running a coordinated Reader's Choice Award program in early 2010. During January, you'll be able to nominate your favorite sites, services and innovations in categories ranging from the best IM client and email service to best Web design and Web browser. Then, in February, check back to see if your favorite nominees made the cut, and cast your vote. Winners will be announced March 1. There's no prize -- just the bragging rights that come with getting recognized by the readers of one of the biggest tech networks on the Web.

Nominations Are Closed

Vote for the winner until February 24.
