Google Music Discovery

By , About.com Guide

Definition:

Google Music Discovery is both a feature of Google search and a separate service. When you search for a song, lyrics, or a performer, the search results will include the ability to play songs from available partner databases. You'll also find links from partner services that will allow you to legally purchase songs or discover stylistically similar music.

Google and its musical partners hope the service encourages users to legally purchase music by making legal avenues easier to find. Partner companies include imeem, Lala, MySpace, Pandora, Rhapsody, EMI, Sony Music, Universal Music Group, and Warner Brother Records.

Google Music Discovery can be found within Google searches or by visiting www.google.com/music

Also Known As: Google Music, music search
Alternate Spellings: The service was rumored to be named Google Tunes before its public debut on October 29, 2009.
