Google Zeitgeist

By Marziah Karch, About.com

Definition: Zeitgeist is a German word that literally means, "the spirit of the times."

Google Zeitgeist was a way to measure our cultural zeitgeist by looking at what we're interested in finding on the Web. Google Zeitgeist was a listing of trends and patterns in Google search habits compiled by Google. Top search keywords were listed by week, month, and year.

The original Zeitgeist was replaced in May of 2007 by Google Hot Trends, which is a more dynamic and daily listing.
