Book Search

By Marziah Karch, About.com

Definition: Google Book Search allows you to search for phrases within books in a massive Google database.

Depending on the agreement with the publisher, you can view some or even all of the text with the search phrases highlighted. Books out of copyright can be viewed or downloaded in their entirety.

The results window for searches also lists links to various publishers where the book can be purchased.

Google Book Search has produced some controversy with book publishers and author guilds over copyright infringement for scanning their books, even if the entire book is not displayed to the public.

Google Books is found on the Web at books.google.com
