GrandCentral

By Marziah Karch, About.com

Definition: GrandCentral is an Internet based service acquired by Google. The service allows users to choose a single, unchanging phone number that they can give out to everyone.

Users can customize what happens when someone calls the number, so one person's calls may be forwarded to the office, while another person's may ring all numbers at once. The service also lets users maintain a central voic email box that can be checked from the Web

In March of 2009, Google renamed the service Google Voice and began the process of transferring users to the new server.
