Definition: Google Apps is a program that hosts customized versions of Gmail, Google Talk, Google Calendar, and Google Sites on your domain. You can also share videos internally or get additional email security features for an additional fee. The service is offered in both a free and premium version and is open for third party feature development. There's also a free version for educational institutions which includes some of the premium features.

Google is aggressively marketing Google Apps to small businesses as a lower cost way to manage email and document collaboration.
