eBook Technologies

Definition: Google acquired eBook Technologies in January 2011 as announced by a statement on the company website. The terms of the acquisition were undisclosed. Google launched the Google eBookstore in December of 2010, and eBook Technologies was most likely purchased to augment Google's offering. Google and other eBook platforms face heavy competition from Amazon.com's Kindle eReader and apps.
