Definition: DoubleClick offers services to advertisers, advertising agencies, and content publishers to help them track and serve online ads. DoubleClick has a large list of clients, including About.com.

DoubleClick does not create ads themselves, but they do supply the technology that displays ads to site visitors.

DoubleClick tracks data through the use of cookies, and some have raised concerns over privacy issues, although DoubleClick has issued extensive statements about how and when it uses data collected from cookies.

DoubleClick was purchased by Google on April 13th, 2007 for 3.1 billion dollars, pending legal approval.
