Happy 2013

By December 31, 2012

Follow me on:

Google closed out the year by announcing the close of a few more services. Some ended immediately, but some will end over time. Speaking of giving users time, January 1, 2013 marks the very end of Google Health. It's been closed for new entries for a while, but if you had any data in it that you wanted to transfer someplace else, you don't have much time.

Now that we're done with the downers, 2013 looks like it will be a great year for Google consumer electronics. Android is stronger than ever, and Google is selling products directly from their website as well as giving away the operating system for free. Microsoft is trying to compete with Windows 8 based products, but so far the public reception hasn't been that great. Consumers weren't that hot about Android when it initially came out either, so I wouldn't count Microsoft out yet.

I'll be starting the year at the Consumer Electronics Trade show in Las Vegas, where I hope to find some of the latest and greatest Android, Google TV, and other devices. See you in 2013.
