The latest iOS update for iPads and iPhones has a lot of great features, and one that some users may have missed. It gets rid of Google Maps in favor of their own in-house product. That could be well and good, but Apple maps are bad. Really bad.
I've updated an iPad and checked it out myself. The directions are pretty terrible. I looked up my favorite donut shop, and it skipped the nearest two locations in favor of a place half an hour away. The 3D views often show melty landscapes with graphical glitches, and there are problems with large chunks of cities missing, especially in areas like London and Tokyo.
I love Google Maps, but I'm not married to it. Bing has great results, too. This Apple thing was just not ready for release. They should have kept the Google for another year.
