Google's Election 2008 Page

Monday August 25, 2008
This is the time of year when a lot of us start glancing at our watches and wondering if it's November yet, but the US 2008 presidential election is just kicking into high gear. Both "low information" voters and information addicts can get their political fix this year with Google tools.

Google just announced even more today. They've created a centralized 2008 election page, a convention page, and even a page for starting your own campaign. Google is also sponsoring the Big Tent in Denver for bloggers and other new media reporters.

Why is Google focusing so much on politics this year? Probably because they can. 2004 was the last election before YouTube, and it was novel for a campaign to maintain a blog. This year a YouTube channel is considered a campaign necessity.
