Google Bid Against Itself in FCC Spectrum Auction
Monday April 7, 2008
It's not a big surprise, but now that the auction is over, Google has admitted that their main goal was not to buy wireless spectrum but to make sure the reserve was met, so FCC mandated open network conditions would kick into effect.
During the auction, Google even bid against themselves, "in ten of the bidding rounds we actually raised our own bid -- even though no one was bidding against us -- to ensure aggressive bidding on the C Block."
