Google Android Contest Is Open

In an effort to make sure Android has a really good year, Google is sponsoring the Android Developer Challenge. There are some serious cash prizes being offered, but there's even more on the line.

Google has to popularize Android extremely quickly if it wants to be a major player. And that means they need cool applications yesterday.

If you're interested in developing mobile applications, the first deadline for applications is March 3rd. 50 lucky winners will receive $25,000 for further development time, and that could increase to up to $275,000.

Not bad. However, Android isn't without pitfalls. Several sources claim Android is frustratingly poorly documented, which makes development much more difficult.
