Every year Google compiles a list of search terms for the Zeitgeist report. This isn't the most popular search terms. Those terms tend to stay the same (and are probably a little naughty.)

The Zeitgeist looks at unusual patterns in search and fast rising terms, which gives a look into what the world is thinking about. Hence the name Zeitgeist, which comes from a borrowed German word for the spirit of the times. The global Zeitgeist list for 2007 is:

7. ebuddy

9. hi5

It seems pretty typical that Web services and gadgets are high on the list. They need to develop an analog version to see what the non-technically minded are searching for. Maybe they could ask reference desk librarians.
