Check Your Flight Status With Google

Wednesday December 19, 2007
Google added a new search trick for the holidays. If you want to get info on your flight status, just type in your airline carrier and the flight number. The first result should pull information from flightstats.com.

I've tried this out, and it works. However, being a little too eager doesn't help. If your flight is more than two or three days away, you won't get the correct results. Airlines reuse fight numbers, and how would they know the status of your flight that far in advance, anyway? I had to go look up a flight number for a flight leaving today to see this demonstrated in its proper glory.

My airport offers free wifi, and I'm laughing at the thought of looking up flight status with Google instead of looking it up on one of those confusing monitor displays at the airport. I bet I'd get my answer faster.
