Google Android Developer Kit Is Here

Monday November 12, 2007
The Open Handset Alliance announced the "early look" release of the SDK (Software Development Kit). The Open Handset Alliance is the partnership formed by Google and several other companies for a mobile phone operating system.

Google followed up with an announcement that they were awarding $10 million in incentives to use that Android SDK. According to a press release, the money would be awarded as "cash prizes ranging from $25,000 to $275,000 to developers whose applications are picked by a panel of judges."

That's one quick way to populate your mobile devices with applications. I can't wait to see an Android phone in action, but that probably won't happen until 2008 with the final release of the Android SDK.
