iGoogle!

Follow me on:

iGoogle Logo - GoogleLast week, Google Personalized Home Page was down for many users, and Google was frantically trying to fix the problem. Well, it looks like all is mostly well now, and even better than before. Google just renamed the service iGoogle.

This is how they've referred to the service internally, and it does explain why you find it at www.google.com/ig. It really is a much more interesting name than "Google Personalized Home Page."

More important than the name change, it's now easier than ever to make your own Google Gadgets. Yay! Currently the choices they offer are a bit limited. You can add things like static text, counters, and static images, but you can send them to your friends or publish them for the world to see. I'd like to see some easy clicks to make a custom Gadget with an RSS feed. I hope it's coming soon.
