Google Video - Coming to an Apple Near You

Monday September 18, 2006
Since Apple and Google now have Eric Schmidt in common, things may have become even more interesting. Last week, Apple announced that they were developing a new product, code named "iTV," which is a small, wireless device that would let you stream digital video, podcasts, music, and other digital files to your television.

It didn't take long for rumors to fly that you might be able to watch Google Video files from this device, too. Well, according to Newsweek, that may just happen.

"Is it possible that when iTV ships next year, you may also be able to choose a menu item called Google Video, and then zip through the best of the thousands of user-submitted videos on the search giant's service? Google's consumer product chief, Marissa Mayer, tells me that indeed, the two companies are engaged in talks."

That would be very, very cool. Other sources, however, say that the bigger story is that Apple will feature Google ads and break heavily into online advertising.
