Happy Labor Day, Happy Back to School

Monday September 4, 2006
It's back to school time again. Most schools are probably already in session again, so let's talk about Google in the classroom.

I think the most obvious choice for back-to-school Google would be Writely, but it's new and not as exciting as other Google tools and services. Google Maps is getting a lot of praise from teachers these days, and deservedly so. Not only is it easy to access, Google Maps Mashups make maps interesting and fun.

Google Map's close cousin, Google Earth is also a classroom favorite, and thankfully Google has cleared up a little misunderstanding with their User License. Yes, it's ok to use Google Earth in the classroom. This is a big deal, as Hall Davidson cancelled a presentation over concern about the user agreement.
